most famous manufacturing location in India of the dholak. The above image
shown is also a small unit of manufactured dholak of Amroha. Owing to social
development the scope of this unique musical instrument has been expanded day
by day. Nowadays many schools and colleges give an opportunity to students to
learn instrumental music. It is something that is adopted over vocal subjects
more in growing days. Women used this dholak in lokgeet, keertan , and in
regional places also. It is having traditional metal- turnbuckle
tensioning. It is made out of mango, Sheesham or Popular trees wood,
beautifully coated with unique light brown colour. It comes under The UP
Government’s ONE DISTRICT-ONE PRODUCT programme which
aims to encourage such indigenous and specialized products and crafts in UP
that are found nowhere else.
