Ghazipur, India's opium capital, is located 75–80 kilometres north-east of Varanasi, on the western bank of the Ganga. Varanasi's district is divided into subdivisions. Ghazipur is India's only city where opium is grown lawfully for therapeutic purposes. The city has historical relevance as the birthplace of Maharshi Yamdgni, an old sage, as lauded in Vedic literature.

To make white and silky de-colored yarn, raw jute of natural colour is bleached to discolour it. Jute is coloured in various hues using traditional processes. Weaving is done on 5-foot-long pit-looms. The surplus yarn is trimmed and polished after weaving. Patching of kela-silk (Art silk) yarn, velvet paper, and beads is done as the final step of the production procedure to make the design and adorn the hanging to give it a lovely look. Raw Material Used in making of wall-hangings
The artists make these unique designs using an ancient Banaras weaving technique called naka jala taka, which is noted for its organic appeal and aesthetic presentation. Jute, cotton, silk, and cloth are used to build Hindu Gods and Goddesses, forests, birds, animals, and dwellings.
Making of Traditional Wall Hangings
These are traditional handloom items manufactured without the use of jacquard using a blend of jute yarn and other yarns in a variety of colours and strengths. To obtain white and soft discoloured yarn, natural yarns are bleached using traditional methods. Hot (dark colours) and cold (light colours) water are used in the dyeing process (light colours).
The tana (warp) is prepared for weaving once the yarn has dried. Bana (weft) of various colours is arranged according to the design. Bana of various shades and colours are blended and mixed by hand with tana to make the designs stand out. Pit looms are used to weave.
Extra threads and yarn are trimmed away, and the jute wall hanging is held in place for the embroidery. Silk and jute are used to embroider new motifs and designs that cannot be woven. Branches of trees, flower motifs, and leaves are commonly embroidered patterns. The next step in the rapping process is to create roofs, bridges, boats, and carts. Windows are created during the patching procedure.
