PALAKKADAN MATTA RICE
Matta Rice, also known as Rosematta rice, Palakkadan Matta rice, Kerala Red rice or Red Parboiled rice, is locally sourced from the Palakkad region of Kerala, India. Used in a wide variety of foods, Matta rice can be had as plain rice, or be used to make idlis, appams and snacks like murukku and kondattam The flavour of Kerala rice is very unique and is preferred over any other type of rice in Kerala and it is registered under the Geographical Indications. It goes well with beef curry, chicken curry, mutton curry or even vegetarian curry. Palakkadan Matta Rice of Kerala received the Geographical Indication of India tag on September 24, 2007.
